Why do we recommend using gloves instead of a mitt when applying the body foam?

We have done extensive research and testing and without fail the gloves were far superior to the cloth mitt. The mitt absorbed a large amount of solution and tended to leave streaks. When using the gloves, not a drop of solution is wasted! Because of the added moisturizers in our product, the body foam is very movable and the gloves help produce a flawless, even tan.

How long do I allow the Body Foam to develop?

The Body Foam will develop in 3-8 hours. The longer you wait to shower the darker your tan will be! We recommend that you start with 3-4 hours for your first tan and work your way up to the desired color you would like to achieve.

Can I apply 2 coats of the Body Foam to achieve a darker tan?

Yes, you can definitely apply 2 coats of the Body Foam. For even darker tans, rinse on the first coat after 8 hours. Wait 2-3 hours and then apply your second coat.

How long will my tan last with the Body Foam?

With routine applications of moisturizer, a tan with the Body Foam will last 7-10 days.

Why do I need to use a brush with the Face Mist?

The brush is necessary to getting an even, all over tan. The Face Mist is very movable so the brush with help evenly distribute it all over your face.

What is the best way to prepare my skin before applying the Face Mist?

We recommend exfoliating and then washing thoroughly. Wait 1-2 hours to allows pores to close.

How long with my tan last with the Face Mist?

Because of routine skin care and exfoliation, a Face Mist tan will last about 3 days.

Can I apply make up over the Face Mist?

Absolutely! We recommend waiting about 10-20 minutes to allow the Face Mist to fully dry and absorb before applying your make up.

Can I use the Face Mist on other areas of my body?

Yes, we highly recommend using the Face Mist on hands and feet to achieve a flawless even tan. Skin on the hands and feet tends to be drier which means more absorption of the tanning solution so make sure to apply a thin layer of moisturizer to your hands and feet before applying the Face Mist.

How can I extend the life of my tan?

Moisturize, moisturize, and moisturize! Drier skin will exfoliate faster so keeping skin nice and moisturized will add days to the life of your tan.

How many tans do I get in the 'The Golden Standard Sunless Tanning System Complete Kit'?

Depending on the amount of solution you use (more = darker), typically the average person gets ~8 full body tans per kit.

Do I need to use all of The Golden Standard Sunless Tanning System products or can I just order the Sunless Body Butter™?

The beauty of The Golden Standard Sunless Tanning System is how it delivers such an even, professional-looking tan. While you technically don’t have to use the complimentary products, all of our products were designed to give you the highest-quality tan. The Body Roller and Sunless Butter Blend Tray ensure easier application and the most even tan possible. The Barrier Cream prevents excess tanner from absorbing into dry areas, such as the feet, knees, elbows and hands. The Finishing Powder sets the tanning solution and absorbs any excess solution to prevent over-darkening.

What is the best way to prepare my skin before applying the Sunless Body Butter?

We recommend showering and exfoliating first, removing any makeup as well. Try using a natural sea sponge, exfoliating gloves, a body scrub or other exfoliating product on all areas of the body that will be tanned. Dry off as usual. Apply our Barrier Cream to dry areas, such as knees, elbows, hands and feet. For the most even tan, do not use any other products on the body before applying the Sunless Body Butter Solution.

How long do I have to wait until I can get dressed?

Because our Sunless Body Butter Solution is so moisturizing, it may take a bit longer to dry than the spray tan solutions you may be used to. Those contain high amounts of alcohol to speed the drying process. Our Finishing Powder will help dry the tanner, but you should wait until the Sunless Body Butter Solution feels absorbed on your skin, dry to the touch.

How long will my Golden Standard tan last?

Our Sunless Body Butter Solution is a professional-strength tanning solution and will last a full 7-10 days with proper preparation and maintenance. Of course, any exfoliating, excessive time in the water or sweating may cause the tan to fade faster.

Are your products natural and organic?

All of our products contain natural and organic ingredients wherever possible. We developed our products to be healthy and nourishing to the skin, including natural ingredients like vitamins, shea butter, green tea leaf extracts and sunflower seed oil. We avoided harmful chemicals and other “dirty” ingredients commonly found in store-bought self-tanning solutions.

Can I use the Sunless Body Butter on my face?

Yes! Our solution is gentle enough for the face and won’t clog pores. We fortified it with anti-aging ingredients, antioxidants and moisturizers that are good for your entire body. We recommend applying the Sunless Body Butter Solution on the rest of the body first, then use the Blending Brush to tap on the solution from the tanning tray. Lightly tap the solution onto your face and blend with the brush.

Are your products tested on animals?

No way.

What do I do if I rub against something while the tanning solution is drying?

Never fear a dog’s lick or a bump against a sofa. Remember, you’re in control! Simply tap a small amount of our Sunless Body Butter Solution onto your included Blending Brush and blend onto the area that needs a little more glow. Use the Blending Brush to feather the solution into the surrounding skin.

How long does it take to apply the Sunless Body Butter?

Every body is different, but on average, you should be able to apply The Golden Standard Sunless Tanning System to your entire body in under 20 minutes. This includes using the Barrier Cream before applying the Sunless Body Butter Solution, the Finishing Powder afterwards and the short drying time when you’re all finished.

Do I need to apply more than once to achieve the color I want?

Nope! Unlike other at-home tanning products, The Golden Standard Sunless Tanning System is professional-strength and will gradually darken after one application. When you achieve the color you want, simply shower to stop the darkening process.

How long does it take to see the tan?

Our Sunless Body Butter Solution typically develops in 3 hours, but if you want to continue darkening, it will develop over an 8-12 hour time period if you do not shower.

Do I need to buy all of the products again after I use all of the Sunless Body Butter?

Nope! When you first purchase The Golden Standard Sunless Tanning System, you’ll receive the Sunless Body Butter Solution, the Body Roller, the Sunless Butter Blend Tray, the Blending Brush, the Barrier Cream, the Finishing Powder, the Deluxe Carrying Bag and The Golden Rules instructions. How do I clean my Body Roller, Sunless Butter Blend Tray and Blending Brush?

We recommend washing the sponge Body Roller, Tray and Brush with warm, soapy water between uses. For the Roller and Brush, squeeze out excess water and let air dry out of the sun. Be sure to wash your hands afterwards to prevent any tanning solution from discoloring your hands.
